East of Main Cafe proudly supports Project Limelight Society, a free performing arts program for young people living in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. 100% of the profits from East of Main are committed to Project Limelight.
Project Limelight is about inspiring children to look inside themselves and discover their inner strengths, explore their hidden talents, develop confidence and form lasting friendships. Above all, Project Limelight is about having fun!
Sisters Maureen Webb and Donalda Weaver founded Project Limelight Society to give back to the East Vancouver community where they were raised. In July 2012, they launched East of Main Cafe which supports Project Limelight, both financially and through a food security program, providing healthy meals and snacks to Limelight participants. Project Limelight Society operates with the support of Strathcona Community Centre, Central City Foundation, Vancity office of Community Engagement/SFU Woodward’s, Virgin Unite and many other generous supporters.
"Our hope is that every child in our program walks away with a widened circle of friends, an increased sense of self, and a heightened curiosity. Nothing would please us more than having participants come back to the program as mentors. To us, that is success" - Donalda and Maureen
